The next fortnight

I am off on vacation so the Cow Corner will remain unoccupied for the next couple of weeks. Before I go, some predictions for the forthcoming fortnight, and a bit beyond.

South Africa beats India 3 – 0 in the one-day international series in Ireland. The sparse crowd of 100, all Indians, sportingly applauds. India manage a total less than 200 in each of the first two games. Sachin Tendulkar, after failing in the first two games, scores a tortuous century in a losing cause in the third game. Saurav Ganguly pitches in with a pedestrian half-century in the same game.

England and West Indies share the Twenty20 series over at The Oval. Considering that it is still considered festival cricket at an international level, it is important that teams share the spoils.

Notwithstanding terrible team selection, England manage to beat the West Indies 3 – 0 in the regular 50-over series. This West Indies team cannot beat England A. And that’s not just owing to current form – take away Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo, and none of the others deserve a place in the one-day team.

Sri Lanka play Bangladesh in a three-test series. Is anyone interested?

Bye for now.

Unfortunately your prediction about India - SA series turns to be horribly wrong. India won 2-1. Sachin scored 2 90s, each with his style and as per the situations and conditions.

Its authors or media ppl like you, create a negative vibes around the team in this country. A bunch of pessimists.......

Chill, superunknown. Don't you agree that it is better for a pessimistic prediction to go wrong than an optimistic one? On a more serious note, you must admit that India has not particularly handled South Africa well in neutral territory. Moreover, Sachin's form of late had not quite inspired confidence, has it?

Well if you expect Tendulkar to hit a 100 in every single game, then you are fooling yourselves. India has handled SA well in the neutral territories too.

Proof :

1) Champs trophy semifinals in 2000 and 2002 in Kenya and SL respectively.

2) Bangladesh, tournament in 2003 post WC. Won 2 games, 1 was washed out.

3) 1999, Kenya again, Sunil Joshi took 5-6.

And BTW India and SA dont play often on neutral soil. So that counters your stated fact. Not a problem with you personally, but m just correcting you, cos wrong facts mislead and journalists should not mislead.
